n8n agency

The n8n agency that makes workflows hold in production

Your workflows ran in testing. Under real traffic they drop runs, run out of memory, or fail without telling anyone. Our senior engineers find the cause, fix it in your own n8n instance, and leave it documented.

Definition

What is an n8n agency?

An n8n agency is an engineering team that designs, builds and runs workflow automations and AI agents on n8n for other companies. It covers the work around the canvas: hosting, security, error handling, scaling, custom integrations and upgrades, so that workflows keep running when real data and real traffic arrive.

HorizonLux works as an n8n development agency for teams that already have workflows in place. We use n8n in our own daily work, so the failure modes on this page are ones we have met ourselves.

Where n8n projects stall

Why n8n workflows break after launch

n8n’s own documentation describes each of these. They appear when test data becomes real data.

  1. 01

    Failures nobody hears about

n8n has no error handling by default. Until someone builds an error workflow and links it, a failed run stays in the execution list and nobody is told.

What we do: We add error workflows, retries and alerts to every workflow that matters.

  2. 02

    Memory crashes on real data

n8n does not cap how much data a node can load. A workflow that handled a hundred rows in testing can exhaust memory and stop on a full export.

What we do: We batch the data and move heavy steps into sub-workflows.

  3. 03

    Self-hosting without an owner

A self-hosted instance needs patching, backups, execution pruning and, at volume, queue mode with Postgres and Redis. n8n ships a new version most weeks, so an unattended instance falls behind quickly.

What we do: We harden the instance, set up queue mode, and write the upgrade runbook.

What we deliver

What we put in place before go-live

Four pieces of work. Each one ends as something in your repository or your n8n instance.

  • Error handling and alerts

Error workflows, retry rules and alerts to Slack or email on every critical workflow, so a failed run reaches a person instead of sitting in a list.

  • Queue mode and workers

A main process, workers, Postgres and Redis, sized to your volume. Webhooks keep answering while long runs are processed in the background by separate workers.

  • Security hardening

External task runners for code, credentials behind one managed encryption key, webhooks that check who is calling, and a patching routine for new n8n releases.

  • Environments and releases

Separate development and production instances, workflows exported to your Git repository, and a written promotion path, since n8n does not sync credentials between environments.

How the fix runs

From the call to a stable instance

One agreed deliverable to start. You see progress every week.

  1. 01Call

    A free 30-minute call

You show us what breaks. We agree on one deliverable, its scope and its price before any work starts.

  2. 02Audit

    We read the instance

An engineer can join your Slack and repository within five working days, then reviews workflows, executions, hosting and credentials.

  3. 03Pilot

    A paid pilot, one deliverable

We fix the agreed problem in your own n8n instance. You get a weekly demo and a written update.

  4. 04Handover

    Docs, runbooks and training

Your team receives the documentation, the upgrade runbook and a training session. Then you continue alone, or with us.

Is n8n the right tool

When n8n is the right tool, and when it is not

We say so on the call if another tool suits the job better.

The platformn8n

n8n is a workflow automation platform for technical teams. You build workflows and AI agents on a visual canvas, add JavaScript or Python where needed, and run it on n8n Cloud or your own servers.

Where it is strong

  • Visual canvas with JavaScript or Python where you need it
  • Runs on n8n Cloud or on your own servers
  • Priced per workflow execution, not per step

Where it stops

  • No error handling until you build an error workflow
  • No limit on data per node, so large payloads exhaust memory
  • Git sync leaves out credentials and has no review step

n8n is the right tool when

  • Many systems to connect, with logic that branches and loops
  • Data that has to stay on your own servers
  • AI agents that need tools, approvals and a visible trace

We would say no when

  • Latency-critical request paths: write a service instead
  • Heavy processing of large files: use a data pipeline
  • Reselling n8n to your customers: needs a separate license

If part of the work belongs in code, we build that part in code and let n8n call it.

Two ways to work with us

A scoped fix, or an engineer on your team

Both start with the same free call. Scope and price are agreed before work starts.

Scoped build

One problem, one deliverable

We take a defined piece of work, from an instance audit to a full rebuild of a failing workflow, and deliver it.

  • Paid pilot with one agreed deliverable
  • Weekly demo and written update
  • Work done in your instance and repository
  • Docs, runbooks and training at handover

Some finish in under a month. Others run for a year.

On your team

A senior n8n engineer, embedded

For teams that would rather hire n8n developers than hand over a project: a senior engineer works in your Slack and repository.

  • Can join within five working days
  • No juniors learning on your project
  • Works in English, in any timezone
  • You own the code, the IP and the docs

FAQ

Questions before you call

Short answers. Each one stands on its own.

Can you fix n8n workflows that someone else built?

Yes. We start by reading the workflows, the execution history and the hosting setup. The audit produces a written list of what is wrong, ordered by risk, and we agree on which item becomes the paid pilot.

Why do my n8n workflows fail without any warning?

n8n does not alert anyone by default. A failed run is recorded in the execution list and nothing else happens until you build an error workflow and link it in the workflow settings. We add that, with retries and alerts.

Should we stay self-hosted or move to n8n Cloud?

It depends on who will run the server. n8n itself recommends self-hosting only for teams with server, container and security skills. If data residency or volume requires self-hosting, we set it up and document it. Otherwise Cloud is usually less work.

Can n8n handle high volume in production?

Yes, with the right setup. Queue mode separates the main process from workers and needs Postgres and Redis. Workflows that load large datasets must be split into batches. We size and configure this for your actual volume.

How much does an n8n consultant cost?

We do not publish prices because the work varies too much. Scope and price are agreed on the free 30-minute call, before any work starts. Work begins with a paid pilot that has one agreed deliverable.

Who owns the workflows and the code?

You do. Workflows run in your n8n instance, code lives in your repository, and credentials stay in your accounts. You own the code, the IP and the documentation. We sign an NDA on request.

How soon can n8n experts start on our instance?

An engineer can join your Slack and repository within five working days of the free call. How long the work takes depends on the scope: some engagements finish in under a month, others run for a year.

We worked with Seif on the React Native app for our vehicle-appraisal platform. What stood out most was how much ownership he takes: he thinks a feature through, raises edge cases before they turn into bugs, and delivers something that actually works. And then there is one more thing why I wanted to work with Seif after our very first call: Exceptional clear and consistent communication. It is a pleasure to work with him and his team!
