Master test: five scenarios from the core series

Setup only counts if you can use it without the lesson open. Each question is a real situation, and every answer points to the day that covers it.

You’ll finish with

  • Five answers checked against the official docs

The questions

One question at a time. Pick an answer to see whether it’s right; your score shows at the end.

  1. Question 1 of 5: Question 1: a manual skill

Claude must never start it on its own.

    your-project/

    • folder .claude
      • folder skills
        • folder deploy
          • SKILL.md
The deploy skill in your project.

Your /deploy skill must run only when you type /deploy. What do you change?

    • A. Add “only deploy when asked” to CLAUDE.md.
    • B. Set disable-model-invocation: true in its frontmatter.
    • C. Move it to ~/.claude/skills/.
    Show the answer

    The answer is B.

It stops Claude from loading the skill on its own, so it runs only when you type /deploy. It also keeps the skill’s description out of Claude’s context.

Reread Day 13: Skill arguments and files or the skills docs.

Pick an answer to go on.

  2. Question 2 of 5: Question 2: a hook that exits 1

    The usual failure code.

    In order:

    1. Claude

      Claude asks to edit .env

    2. Hook

      PreToolUse hook runs

    3. Shell

      Script exits 1

A guard hook using the wrong exit code.

Your PreToolUse hook rejects .env edits by exiting with code 1, with no JSON output. What happens?

    • A. The edit goes ahead.
    • B. The edit is blocked.
    • C. Claude Code ends the session.
    Show the answer

    The answer is A.

Exit 1 is a non-blocking error. Only exit 2 or a JSON deny decision blocks.

Reread Day 14: Hooks that check the work or the hooks reference.

  3. Question 3 of 5: Question 3: a team MCP server

    Shared through git.

    In order:

    1. You

      You add the server

    2. You

      You commit and push

    3. You

      A teammate clones the repo

One setup for the whole team.

How do you add an MCP server every teammate gets from git?

    • A. claude mcp add with no scope flag.
    • B. Paste it into each teammate’s ~/.claude.json.
    • C. Add it with --scope project and commit .mcp.json.
    Show the answer

    The answer is C.

With no scope flag, the server stays private to you. Project scope stores it in .mcp.json at the project root, ready to commit.

Reread Day 17: MCP servers for your team or the MCP docs.

Pick an answer to go on.

  4. Question 5 of 5: Question 5: Claude in a CI job

    One prompt, then exit.

    In order:

    1. Shell

      CI step starts

    2. Claude

      Claude answers one prompt

    3. Shell

      The job continues

What the CI step needs from Claude.

A CI step needs Claude to answer one prompt and exit. Which command?

    • A. claude "summarise the failing tests"
    • B. claude -c "summarise the failing tests"
    • C. claude -p "summarise the failing tests"
    Show the answer

    The answer is C.

-p runs non-interactively and exits. Without it, claude "…" opens an interactive session, and -c continues your last one.

Reread Day 22: Run Claude from a script or the CLI reference.

Pick an answer to go on.
