Day 42 of 52 · about 20 min · Automation · Bonus
Run Claude Code in the cloud
A long task doesn’t need your laptop open. In a cloud session Claude works on a fresh copy of your repository, pushes a branch, and waits for you to check in from a browser or your phone.
You’ll finish with
- GitHub connected to claude.ai/code
- A cloud task started from your terminal
- That session pulled back with
--teleport
You’ll need
- Cloud sessions need a Pro, Max or Team plan, or an Enterprise premium or Chat + Claude Code seat
- A GitHub repository, such as the practice project, cloned on your machine
- Claude Code signed in with your claude.ai account, not an API key
Before you start
Tell us about your setup and the steps change to fit it. Your answers stay in this browser, and you can change them at any time.
Which system are you on?
Commands differ between systems. Pick the one you’ll run Claude Code on.
The steps
One step at a time. When a step’s check matches, tick it and the next one opens.
Step 1 of 3: Connect GitHub at claude.ai/code
Sign in, approve GitHub and get a Default environment.Go to claude.ai/code, sign in and connect GitHub. Install the Claude GitHub App on your repository. On Team and Enterprise, click Create & finish on the environment form.
In order:
You
Sign in at claude.ai/code
You

plus the Claude GitHub App on your repository
Tool
Default environment
reaches package registries and other allowlisted domains
With the GitHub CLI, /web-setupconnects GitHub. On Team or Enterprise, an Owner turns on Quick setup first.Check it worked
The repository selector below the input box lists your repository.
If it didn’t work
The page says GitHub access is required for Claude Code cloud sessions
On Team and Enterprise, an Owner must first turn on the GitHub connector in Organization settings > Connectors. Then reload claude.ai/code.
Step 2 of 3: Send a task to the cloud from your terminal
Run claude --cloud with a task.Push your commits first: with the GitHub App installed, the session clones your GitHub remote at the current branch, not your working copy. In your own project, name a real file or test.
TerminalRun: claude --cloud "Add a test for a quote with a 0% discount, then run npm test"
What happens: A live checklist shows the clone and setup, then the session runs on claude.ai.
The session keeps running after you close your laptop. Check it worked
The session shows at claude.ai/code and in the Code tab of the Claude app. When Claude stops, it pushes a branch and a diff indicator such as
+42 -18appears.Step 3 of 3: Pull the session into your terminal
Run claude --teleport in a clean checkout to continue locally.Run it from a checkout of the same repository. If you have uncommitted changes, it offers to stash them.
TerminalRun: claude --teleport
What happens: Pick the session. Claude fetches its branch, checks it out and loads the conversation.
From here the work is local. New messages don’t reach the cloud copy. Check it worked
git branch --show-currentnames the session’s branch, and the cloud conversation is in your terminal. If it didn’t work
Teleport says it is unavailable
It needs a claude.ai login. If you use an API key, run
/loginand sign in with your claude.ai account.
Finish · 3 of 3 steps to go
Your tasks run without your laptop
What you’ll have checked

Does a cloud session cost extra?
There’s no separate charge for the cloud machine. It counts toward your plan’s usage limits, like the rest of your Claude use.
