Day 50 of 52 · about 10 min · Basics · Bonus

Share what Claude made as an artifact

A long answer in the terminal is hard to pass on, and a screenshot goes stale. An artifact turns it into a page your team can open, and it updates in place as Claude keeps working.

You’ll finish with

  • An artifact that walks through your last commit
  • The same page updated in place, and found again with /artifacts
  • A sharing setting you chose on purpose

You’ll need

  • A Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, signed in with /login. API keys and cloud providers can’t publish artifacts.
  • An interactive session in the terminal or the desktop app, not a -p run
  • A git project with at least one commit (the practice project works)

Before you start

Tell us about your setup and the steps change to fit it. Your answers stay in this browser, and you can change them at any time.

Which system are you on?

Commands differ between systems. Pick the one you’ll run Claude Code on.

The steps

One step at a time. When a step’s check matches, tick it and the next one opens.

  1. Step 1 of 4: Ask for an artifact

Name the feature and describe the page you want.
    In Claude Code

You type: Make an artifact that walks through my last commit, with the diff annotated inline.

What happens: Claude writes the page to a temporary file outside your project and publishes it.

What happens: It prints the URL, and your browser opens the page.

Good candidates are easier to see than to read: diffs, charts, options side by side.

    Check it worked

A page opens on claude.ai. So far, only you can see it.

    If it didn’t work

Claude writes a local HTML file with no link

Artifacts aren’t enabled for this session. Sign in with /login on an eligible plan and ask again.

  2. Step 2 of 4: Update it in place

Ask for a change. Claude republishes to the same URL.
    In Claude Code

You type: Add a one-paragraph summary at the top and republish.

What happens: Each publish becomes a new version. The open page updates in place.

From another session, give Claude the artifact’s URL to update it.

    Check it worked

The open page shows the summary, with no new link.

  3. Step 3 of 4: Find it again

List the artifacts you own and the ones shared with you.
    In Claude Code

    You type: /artifacts

What happens: Select one, then press o to open it in your browser or c to copy its link.

Ctrl+] reopens this session’s latest artifact.

    Check it worked

Your artifact is listed under This session.

  4. Step 4 of 4: Choose who can see it

Use Share in the page header. New artifacts are private to you.

    Only you

    • Every new artifact starts here

    Your organization

    • Team and Enterprise
    • Chosen people or everyone; viewers sign in

    Public link

    • Anyone with the link, no sign-in
    • On Team and Enterprise, an Owner must allow it
Share also picks which version viewers see.

Warning: The page can hold anything your session could reach. Read it before you share it outside the team.

    Check it worked

The Share menu shows the audience you picked.

Finish · 4 of 4 steps to go

Your work is a link, not a screenshot

Use artifacts for reviews, comparisons and status pages your team would otherwise ask you about.

What you’ll have checked

  • The artifact opens from /artifacts
  • It is shared only with the people you chose

Questions

Questions about Day 50

Does a shared page show my name?

Inside your organization, yes. Someone outside it, or not signed in, sees "Content is user-generated and unverified." instead.
